today was Blackberry Day!

I woke up early to go pickin' with Ryan. We picked then he made a sweet smellin' cobbler.

The day passed by and I saw this totally *hot* guy at the mall and he totally looked at me and I giggled and looked away and yeah...... (see jeffersonair 8/15/2003 post)

Molly, Sarah and I then attracted to eachother like magnets and we met, picked blackberries from my backyard, then made this lucious heavy black berry pound cake with sporadic blueberries. And then Molly and I ate way too much sugary batter and icing and devised this crazy but awesome plan to have a baking service that delivers baked goods to customers from our bikes anywhere on the burke-gilman. then we thought it would be super cool to work at a doughnut shop in Alaska next summer so we could practice for our bike bakery service.

dreaming is so fun: esp. with black berries.

PS: ryan, I have a slice of our pound cake with YOUR name on it.

three things were done differently at work today:

1) I got to walk some mail to a whole 'nother BIG shiney building across the parking lot
2) I aquired the role of Failed Vibe Detective and proved my skills by unraveling TWO Vibe mysteries.
3) John saved the fish that flew out of the bowl that he shattered with his bare hand.

He's my hero of the evening. and Laura is the sponge.

and Kyle Bishop is NOT a descendent of Abraham. God told him so via a upside down boardgame. Which is quite cool.

Just now I was reminded of the brevity of life. A friend's friend goes for a swim and ends up with a life threatening disease. That same friend leaves for school and may never come back due to the ill-proximity of a hospital. I deprive myself of sleep and fall asleep at the wheel 3-5 times in a single drive.

God is timeless, and our time is nothing unless we make it something. At crew last week Tom mentioned this: our puny little plus or minus 100 years is nothing in God's non-existant timeline unless we live in such an unabashed way that we cause a major malfunction in this sinful system so as to rock the timeline like an earthquake. does the Richter Scale.

I watched Amelie last night. The movie has some very sketchy portions but it all comes down to this little French girl desiring to do some good in this world. Whenever I watch this movie it makes me want to go out and make mysterious. calls on payphones just to wish someone a beautiful day. And that is one of the smallest things that can be done.

good reading!

I love being able to kick back and read different things. Here are some I recommend:

Seattle Times And Seattle PI

Yes, they are printed at the same press and are currently feuding but PI has a rad picture of the day montage from the AP and it is always good to have a diversified reading base for news... though, these aren't that diversified.. at all.

Live To Tell

A good read on Evangelism in the post modern age.

As always: jeffersonair has enjoyable reads (what else can you expect from someone that cool?) and Arielle's blog has been a favorite of mine this week.

The Percocet Diaries

Friday 1036PM
I just found out a few moments ago that Alieve and Ibuprofen are indeed not interchangeable in doses and when I took three Alieve before my surgery and 2 more six hours later that wasn’t the best idea I have ever had. Good to know…

The Alieve may have been what affected my heart rate and such. They said I had a resting heart rate of 42 (average is in the 70s) and that during surgery they actually had to give me extra drugs to keep my heart rate up.

I even got to ride in a wheelchair out to the truck.

No percocet yet… still waiting for the numbness to wear off: maybe then I will stop drooling on myself.

Saturday 1021PM
I woke up this morning at 650. First thing I noticed: I still have no feeling in my lower lip. Second thing I noticed: I get more keflex! Keflex would be my antibiotic and I wonder if it does anything aside from fighting infection. A brief and terrible idea ran through my mind: what if the doctor hit a nerve and I never get feeling in my lower lip again? I would go through life drooling all over myself and playing with my lower lip while sitting down to dinner with people making sure I am not chewing it and rather the chicken being served.

No worries on that end: I had full feeling by lunch time, for which I am very thankful. But now that the steroids from the anesthesia have worn off I am starting to feel the full effect of the tightness from the stitches. Speaking of anesthesia: they injected the test dose and I was out. I thought they were still putting in the relaxing drugs through the IV so I was just staring at the ceiling tiles which then started to roll… then I woke up. So, I guess I am a bit sensitive to anesthesia.

Ice is my best friend… if I leave it off for five minutes my cheeks glow red and burn like a fever.

I am getting closer to breaking down and going for some percocet.

***

and... yeah. I never took any percocet and tomorrow I am back in the normal swing of things working two jobs. Woohoo! I am not quite a rockstar like some I know and didn't bike to Seattle and back two days after surgery.. but hey, we can't all be that famous.
