Nickelcreek has a great song called speak.

The stars were out as I drove home from the Dever's. Molly is leaving for the University of Idaho tomorrow morning at 630. After saying goodbye to her and her parents I was a bit sentimental, missing their beautiful presence. Listening to Souvenirs, Speak came on. The light and dancing guitar medley set my heart flying on a warm summer breeze and I desired nothing more than to listen to the song on the cool grass gazing deep into the galaxy; losing myself in the stars.

Honestly, it's one of those songs that makes me want to fall in love. It's not even the lyrics: the music simply sounds like two should listen together and enjoy the stars and the warmth of the summer breeze.

Nights like these make me so thankful that Jesus longs to fill every need and desire in our hearts. And he does, so perfectly.

****
Well I sat down next to a photograph
Tried my best almost made her laugh
She was my toughest crowd
There in the way was a moutain up in the clouds
Well I can't sleep and I'm not in love
I can't speak without messing up
Eye's tell of what's behind
And hers showed the way to a long and lonely climb
But through failure I'll proceed
And she'll see how far I've come

[Chorus]
And it's you and me in the sun and sea
I'll offer my heart to yours
It seems to me, no mystery
Well it isn't
So I'll try hard to speak

Well I sat down next to a living hell
Tried my best until I struck out
Movement is not mine
I stood in the way pretending that I was the vine
But no failure will proceed from a mouth that drinks it's wine

[Chorus]
And it's not me
Not my sanctity
These aren't my words to you
It's all clear when it's not from here
So clear
So I'll try not to speak

We stayed at the Double Tree in the Lloyd District of Portland, OR. Nine floors up the Willie Wonka elevators, all the rooms have their own balcony; ours looked over the pool. In 270 degrees you could see the Lloyd Shopping Center, Mt. Saint Helens, more hotels, and Mt. Hood.

The sun rose to christen the new day. A woman left her room and started doing laps in the pool below. The city was still sleeping as the temperature rose. The light, the warmth, the blue glow of the pool, and the sweet sounds of mornings combined to make the most wonderful quiet time I have had all summer. I fell in love with three things:

1) 1 Peter 5 and the beginning of 2 Peter
2) balconies overlooking pools
3) Portland, OR.

I have never seen so many bikes chained EVERYWHERE! 10% of the 167 pictures I took.

Next time I go to Portland it will be on the train with my bike. I forsee biking all over Portland then biking highway 26 to the coast and Astoria or somewhere thereabouts.

I could have invested many more hours and dollars at Powell's but that will have to be another time. Tillamook was rad as usual. They were producing a special white vintage cheese today. Cheese curd is so much squeaky fun! recommended.

Three more days before I get to spend four in my lovely second homeland of British Columbia, Canada! I miss it... sometimes when I am just sitting around my mind wanders the paths and walkways of Trinity. I am ready to go back for another semester. It will be so great.
